Po objevení adresy planety, kam se svým městem odletěli Antikové, je dr. Elizabeth Weirová pověřena vedením expedice, která má za úkol toto město v Paegasově galaxii prozkoumat.
Po příchodu do města Atlantis musela čelit problémům a neočekávaným situacím, ubránit město před útokem nepřátel samotných Antiků - Wraithů. Často vede jednání o možném spojenectví s nově objevenými rasami, vyjednává propuštění lidí z expedice nebo se snaží získat technologie, schopné zachránit město i životy lidí. Weirová nevlastní gen, který je potřeba k ovládání antiských technologií.
Dr. Weirová se často neshoduje s názory mjr./pplk. Johna Shepparda, který chce řešit věci okamžitě a nemyslí na možné následky, jež může svým chováním a jednáním způsobit. Často také musí učinit těžká rozhodnutí, ať již provádění pokusů na Wraithech, vypnutí štítu na Bráně, když není úplně jasné, zda na základnu nepronikne i nepřítel nebo přijmutí uprchlíků.
Dr. Elizabeth Weirová si v galaxii Paegasus vede velice dobře, cení si práce každého člověka na základně a snaží se, aby se jednoho dne celá galaxie osvobodila od nadvlády Wraithů.
